Whatever, Movie.

The movie He’s Just Not That Into You totally pissed me off. At the beginning of the movie I can completely relate with Ginnifer Goodwin’s character because my love life is jacked up, read: nonexistent.  I agree that she needs someone to help her out so Justin Long’s character takes up the mantle. Great, agree one hundred percent.  Bradley Cooper and Scarlett Johansson’s characters are just begging us to hate them. Both of them are just to freaking beautiful to exist in one movie together anyway the fact that they are CHEATERS just adds more fuel to our little hate fire. (I’m sure they are wonderful people in real life. Beautiful Bastards)  So I go along with the movie thinking everything is fine and dandy in my loath fest.  I even hate Ben Afflec’s character because he has freaking Jennifer Aniston who, in my opinion, is one of the most funny, down to earth, understanding and classy women out there and her won’t freaking grow a pair and marry her.  UGH! My recent emotional climate and life events are tracking perfectly with the movie.

HAHA Psych! Flip flop and turn it around.  …spoiler alert... IT’S A CHICK FLIC LIKE ALL THE OTHER ONES!!

I was hoping that in my angsty angst the movie would royally blow for everybody the whole way through but noooo.  Mister “No Commitment” has a change of heart. Miss “Low Self Esteem” finds her worth.  Even real estate dude and Drew Barrymore’s character connect.  (A part, I thought, felt like an afterthought of the script writers, although Drew did her utmost) And frikkin’ Ginnifer Goodwin with her weird flapper hair gets Justin Long!!! Who turns out to be so amazing and wonderful and even brings back the sappy pen.  I hate movies and relationships and chick flicks and everything in the whole world ever.

my life sucks.
Whatever, movie. I crushed on Justin Long in GALAXY QUEST!! Galaxy Quest.  I have been holding a candle for that man since, I say it again, GALAXY QUEST.  That convention attending nerd had me at "Umm, hello?"  He even once again wooed me completely and wholly as his adorably snarky self in Live Free Die Hard. Whatever, WHATEVER.. whatever.  I should have IMDB’ed this crap before watching and better prepared my lonely, unhappy, angry heart for that syrupy ending that has landed a new set of false expectations in my mind…added to the already mega list permanently saturated in my cerebellum by an incurable Disney addiction.  Wonderful.

dork. but an adorable dork.
adorkable.
be nice to nerds. they grow up. get hot. and save the economy.

one more for good measure. mm.

Tomorrow I'm buying yarn for my next crochet project. Yup. I have so much sex appeal it's insane.

Mind Blown: Sleeping Beauty.

First off I have to share with you a picture of my new favorite spot in the house.  The same exact spot I now sit to compose what I hope will at least be a smirk inducing blog.

so cute, right.
Ok Sleeping Beauty. Basically she has my dream life.  (Ha, that's like an almost pun) Allow me to show you with visual aids.  First, she gets way more nick names than any other Disney Princess.  Sleeping Beauty a.k.a. Aurora a.k.a Briar Rose...Nicknames = swag.

She grows up in a woodland forest surrounded by her fairy godmothers (*PLURAL..) and all the little furry woodland creatures.  We share a common love for squirrels.

(inside joke)

She meets/dances/falls in love with Prince Charming (a.k.a. Phillip) on her birthday.
a handsome stranger asks you to dance
always answer yes
positive choices
I have this theory about dancing that I basically stole from Pride and Prejudice.
Elizabeth Bennet: I wonder who first discovered the power of poetry in driving away love?
Mr. Darcy: I thought that poetry was the food of love.
Elizabeth Bennet: Of a fine stout love, it may. But if it is only a vague inclination I'm convinced one poor sonnet will kill it stone dead.
Mr. Darcy: So what do you recommend to encourage affection?
Elizabeth Bennet: Dancing. Even if one's partner is barely tolerable.
The incredible minds behind White Christmas must have been onto me because they put a whole song and dance number about it in their movie.  I am really starting to believe the best things really do happen while you dance.
Fun Fact: Danny Kaye asked the wardrobe dept to match his shoes to his pants so all focus would be on the dancers movement and not distracted by his feet.  What a true artist. His choice became a fashion icon of the era.
Anyway back to Sleeping Beauty.  So on her birthday her fairy godmothers (*Cinderella only got stinkin' one) make her a magic dress, cook her a cool big cake and tell her she's a princess.  Her fairy godmothers take her to the castle to meet all her new subjects and somewhere between receiving her crown and her grand entrance she gets distracted by a cool green light.  "Oooh, Look! Something shiny!" The cool green light leads her up this sweet castle-y wind-y staircase to her very own craft room with a spinning wheel....!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which she proceeds to touch in reverence and pass out from sheer excitement/crafting bliss.
oh.my.gawd...
the peaceful sleep of a person who gets everything they freaking want
And what else?? She's awakened from her bliss-sleep by none other than her mystery man smooching her face off.

Oh, and you want to know what lover boy was doing while she was sleeping?
HE WAS FIGHTING A DRAGON!!!
seriously
After wiping the sleep from her eyes she is then ushered into a huge party with all her friends, I'm pretty sure it's her engagement party, and dances in the magic dress with her handsome man on clouds. CLOUDS.
*like*
party party party
magic dress
magic dress on magic love clouds
So lets recap: she meets/dances/falls in love with a handsome stranger in the woods, gets a magic dress, a cake, finds out she's a princess, gets a spinning wheel, a nice nap, a huge party and dances AGAIN with handsome man in magic dress on magic love clouds on her birthday. Best.Birthday.Ever!!

Did I mention she sings and has incredible beauty?
ok.. over the top.

 So Unfair.
I knooooooow. Disney isn't real.. ish..

*sigh* Can I at least get a T-shirt with Maleficent on it?

Boss

Because I think she's a better villain than Jafar.
Dragon Boss
 Check out her monologue here.

THE END
kinda makes you want to watch the whole movie again, huh.

*shhhh* be very qwiet, i'm hunting wabbits

Do you ever have one of those days where everything is loud?  Heels clicking in the hallway.  The people talking in the next booth behind you. An empty soda can falling into the trash.  Anything and Everything is just a little bit too loud.  It’s days like this that I know I am either getting sick, or I need a nap.  Today is a nap needing day.  But alas, I have to go to work for the next couple of hours. It’s on days like today that I wish I could keep my earbuds in all day listening to sounds of the ocean or a rainstorm.  [If you don’t have a playlist of soothing nature sounds…get.one.now.  they are life savers]  Or what if I surrounded myself in a giant cotton ball fluff and just poofed about my day?  That’s sure to absorb a bunch of those background sounds. Even the sound of my keys clicking as I type is too loud for me.  Today would be a handy day to be Deaf.  I find myself not even wanting to talk because I don’t want to add to the clamor.
Oooooh I just heard the elevator.  It’s not my friend today either.  I just set my phone alarm to vibrate.  And adjusted my laptop so that more padded finger than nails hit the keys.  *hmm* Some improvement.

Today will just be too loud.  Maybe tomorrow will be better.

*ring ring* ...uuuuhhhh

I feel like letting you in on a little secret.  A secret that is so secret I, myself, may not even know the secret parts of said secret. … The secret is… I don’t even know the meaning of the name of my blog!
Of Daffodils and Lollipops just sounded fun when I decided on a whim to make a blog.  Now I suppose it may have something to do with the fact that I watched the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie that day and Willie Wonka eats a daffodil tea cup… but I wouldn’t say I based my entire blog off a movie that may or may not still creep me out just a little..*sketchy side glance*
And I like lolli----I got a phone call and totally lot my train of thought.  Drats.  I actually stopped typing at that exact point too!  Not staged, Girl Scout’s honor!
The sad part now is that the phone call threw off my groove.  I don’t have the blogging bug, at least not anymore tonight.   Odd how things can twist like that, huh?

Also fatigue just hit me like an avalanche.  So sleep will be my friend in T-minus 10 minutes.
I’ll make it up to you later. Pinky Swear!

Ohhhhh the Holidays.

Being my own travel agent is hard.  I don't want to count the number of sites I've ping-ponged between trying to find a cheap/convenient/manageable flight for New Years in Green Bay.
I found out that the teeny tiny airport in Springfield only flies to southern cities.. and the next biggest airport is in St. Louis.
I should tell you that my car can't make it the 3 hours there and back so that options out...unless I take a Grey Hound.
If I took the Grey Hound I'd be a single white girl on a bus full of what I have observed from the one other time I rode one: creepy men who stare, black gangsters, and women with receding hairlines.  All of which I found extremely creepy at 5 o'clock in the morning...the time I would need to be on the bus to make it to St. Louis in time to catch a connecting flight to Chicago where hopefully the weather will be ok for a landing so I don't get stuck in the O'Hare so I don't miss my connecting flight to Green Bay so I can make it in time for a New Year's party so I can finally kiss my boyfriend at midnight! Ahhhh!!!
That's been one of my big dreams since I was, I don't know, 15?!  Hopeless Romantic? Check.
Last year we were in the same situation. Both of us were on school breaks and in our respective home states.  Missing that kiss was one of the saddest nights of that season.  It truly stunk to know that every happy couple was kissing at the 12th chime in all the different time zones. Except us.
RAWR!
See my frustration?  I roared.

Anyway, it's been a lot on my mind.  So I'm taking a break from that.

Work was crazy today and I am utterly exhausted.  I had a store meeting from 8 to 10am and then worked my normal shift from then until 3:30pm.  I didn't actually leave the loud, hustling-bustling mall until 6.  It was a long day.
And I get to do the same thing again tomorrow.  Be at the mall at a little before 8.  Drive to Branson for  Jewelery Consultant Training until 4-ish.  Drive Back.

Go Home.
Die.

Happy Weekend to ME!

...I forgot my FTD (Favorite Thing of the Day)
I got a really great hair cut.

yaaaaaaaaay

Nov 2...'Twas a Good Day

Current listening to: Owl City, Hello Seattle.  Good tunes.

Today was an all-round good day.  I don't know if it would be fair to divulge my Absolute favorite thing...it's still kinda supposed to be a surprise for me, but I promise to blog about it later. *pinkie promises with all her might*

I'll just give a quick run through of all the good things that happened today. In list form with no particular order. It's easier for me ;P
-I was able to spend lots of time with my Steve.  Lots of hugs always make a day better
-I took my time getting ready and listened to my 'happy tunes'
-I went to the mall early to window shop but ended up with super awesome deals and great looking new work clothes
-I worked with Renee and had lots of funny conversations all night
-I tactfully diffused a tense situation with a grumpy customer and got complimented by other customers
-I came home and tried on all my new things
And my FAVORITE thing...
-I was totally surprised by my boyfriend and impressed at his sneakiness/awesome taste :)

This hasn't quite been the blog-y feeling I was going for...it feels to me like a diary entry. hm.
I'll correct that tomorrow.  Maybe the favorite things of the day can be an addition to a blog with more substance.  I have lots of things to consider.
Peace Out Porcupines!

Favorite Thing of the Day! [Dos]

Hitting the New Post button made me smile.  Off we go on another adventure :)

I have to write fast to post this before it's tomorrow! Eeps!  okok

Favorite Thing of the Day: November 1st 2010.
Today was the first day at work for a new employee...a sweet heart of an elderly lady named Cleta.
She has worked in jewelery before but needs to get used to our antiquated computer system and our constantly changing sales numbers so it was my duty today to show her the ropes.  I can't remember when I've had a more enjoyable shift.

Cleta made my whole day.

She told me darling little stories about employees who used to work at our same store, told anecdotes, and looked positively adorable in her matching navy skirt suit and pearl necklace/earring set.
We went around the store doing easy odd jobs just to make her first-day-at-work butterflies go away and all the while she had the biggest smile on her face.
I can't wait to work with her again.  I'm positive she'll make the Holiday Hectics  (retail slang) pass by pleasantly.
At the end of my shift she still had a few more hours to work so I wished her a good rest-of-the-first-day and said I was looking forward to working with her again.  That's when Cleta's cuteness reached maximum limit.  She told me I was a 'comfort' to work with and she had never had a more 'charming' first day.
*dies from the cute factor and ultra-great compliments*

Thank you Cleta, for a positively pleasant work day. I'm looking forward to many more.

Post Script..
When I grow up and get cute and old I want to talk and dress like Cleta.

Favorite Thing of the Day

Ok wow.  I haven't posted in quite a while and those first posts I had were, well, let's just call them less than ideal.
Putting previous posts aside I have decided to venture (my word of the week..or more the word I've been stuck on this week) down a new path, nay, a new direction!  I have been inspired.

I would like to have a Favorite Thing of the Day!  It will be anything from a funny quote I want to share and the story that goes with it, of course, to a funny picture that I Stumbled Upon in my boredom. Or if I happen to be super creative I may upload some of my own pictures for global scrutiny! Yeah! I, for one, think this is a wonderful idea and this way I won't gunk up my friends Facebook walls and annoy them more than I already do.

On to my Favorite Thing of the Day! Hooray!!! Day 1, October 31st 2010.  The fact that it's Halloween has absolutely nothing to do with this post, I actually dread it/can't-wait-for-it-to-be-over-and-get-to-the-real-holidays. Annnnnyway... moving on.
At approximately 6:30 tonight I was well into a yummy meal of a Chipotle chicken burrito (no beans) when my dear Concert Choir friends started playing a rousing game of Death Darts.  Anyone not familiar with this game should know two things: 1) it's pretend and 2) you get to 'kill' your friends.  College game... Go!  As the game became more and more animated and my friends were dropping like flies, Josiah* was unfortunate enough to make eye contact with a killing someone.  This 'Someone' shall remain anonymous because I honestly can't remember who it was.  The eye contact caused Josiah to receive a dart in the neck that in turn caused his immediate death.  While Joe was laying face down on the stainless steel outdoor table Allison* decided to turn mischievous.   This might have been cause by the ghouls and goblins running a-muck or simply from the primal instinct to have fun.  So Allison, being sneaky, took her straw and filled it half full from her Chipotle cup and proceeded to drip her ice cold water on the back of Joe's exposed neck.  Josiah, being dead, could do nothing to protect himself as the icy onslaught dripped down his face.
Finally, someone had mercy on Joe's poor plight and pulled the invisible Death Dart from his neck restoring him to life and with that his ability to clean his face.  Joe did just that and then sought out his revenge on Allison, killing her almost immediately and dripping water on her neck with the help of Sandi*.  Allison, as the freezing water driped down her neck, thought of how she could win this battle.  She started it and by-goodness she was determined to finish it!
Enter the luminous Candace.  I, being a kind, gracious and stunningly beautiful onlooker of this whole ordeal saw that Allison was in obvious distress and (at the risk of involving myself in this dangerous debacle) reached across the table and pulled the dart from her neck.  I'm a saint, I know, send me flowers later when I'm not telling a story.
Allison knew that she must wait for the perfect time to unveil the plan that she has so cleverly let tumble about in the back corners of her mind.  At last after a few more moments her patience is rewarded...Joe had died again! A dart from across the table had pierced him not more then a few inches from his Adam's Apple.  Allison diemed her carpe and like a flash just as his head hit the table in defeat/death poured the remaining contents of her cup over the back of his neck!  Bravo! The table full of us full on out Chipotle burst out in cheers and laughs.  Meanwhile, poor Joe was being gotten quite soggy because, remember, being dead he couldn't move.  Allison, in a tender moment of compassion saw her friend's freezing anguish and pulled the dart from his then goose-fleshed neck.
Josiah then looks for the remaining napkins of our meal to mop up his soggy self.  As he searched for stray icy drops I, being my usual witty and observant self, notice that quite a few napkins had disappeared down the front of his shirt.  This observation appeared odd to me so with my comment and the later laughter I will wrap up my story.  My response to Joe in his less-than-orderly state of affairs was as follows "Joe! Stop stuffing your shirt! You're as bad as a middle school girl!**"

That was my Favorite Thing of the Day. That quote and the story leading up to it...but mostly the fun times had with great friends. :)

I have already grown attached to this idea of mine...this Favorite Thing of the Day.  I think I'll see how many days I can go.  And if I miss a day maybe I'll just catch up the next.  :) We shall see.  BTW, I hope you had as much fun reading as I did living out and then writing about this moment.

**Upon later reflection I think I could have done better with my retort perhaps adding in prepubescent, but no one's perfect.
*names have not been changed in any way for to keep up the accuracy of my story ;)

If I Faint Not...

I won't go into detail.
I'll try not to rhyme...
But here a a few scriptures,
to which I'm clinging at this time.

Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

~and related verses that have ministered to me just as much tonight.

Matthew 10:22 You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.

2 Corinthians 1:4 Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we do not lose heart,

Hebrews 12:3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Hebrews 12:5 and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, "MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD, NOR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM;

James 5:7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains. (NASB)

i will not faint or grow weary. i will press on and pursue my prize...because it's going to be worth it. it's gonna be worth it all.

I DID IT!

i did it! i did it!
i am no longer an Elementary Education Major...well..almost. i still have to finalize my schedule...BUT in every other aspect i am now a Music Theater major! WOO!

i really feel that this is where i'm supposed to be. Education was just a means to an end for me (aka paying off my college debt). Yes, paying off my debt as quickly as possible is very important to me and i am totally willing to live in a van down by the river for a few years to get that off my name (and have WICKED AWESOME credit) BUT doing what i love for the rest of my life is more important. Not to say that i wouldn't be a good teacher..i would work my butt off for those kids. But i don't want to be that teacher who after 5 years hates her life. The students deserve better than that, and i'm paying too much money to not have a major i like.

Which brings us back to Music Theater. Super Stoked about this new adventure. And why am i going back to music after the utter failure of freshman year? I feel that i'm more mature and ready for the demands of Theory and Sight Singing now than i was 2 years ago. i have obviously grown and i'm more aware of my habits (good and bad).
--side note-- I got one of the leads in next semester's musical, Once Upon a Mattress. Now introducing... Lady Larken.
That has nothing to do with my new confidence...none at all.

well that's the news. i'll spill more about the show when it gets here.

current soundtrack: Once Upon a Mattress the musical

Blessed out the Whazoo

have you ever stopped to think how crazy blessed you are?
well today i have.

America. the very word conjures up ideals of freedom, liberty and justice. we are a blessed nation and we take it for granted every day.

My Family. Wow. I don't even know where to begin. the love that they share for this crazy girl writing this blog... i don't understand it at all...but they love me all the same. And i can't even begin to express how much i love them. (and i'm only talking about my extended family)

My Dad. I know he probably will never read this, but Dad, this goes out to you. You are the example of a Godly man in my life. I figured out a long time ago that you are not superman, you are not perfect, you are my Dad. And i wouldn't have it any other way. You have shown me how to grow through my flaws by growing through yours. You have shown me what a real marriage looks like. I know now that marriage is a full time job. But Dad, you have shown me how to succeed. Daddy, you have shown me how i deserve to be loved by loving Mom and i can't thank you enough for that. I love my mom, but i can trust always in the fact that you love her more. that is incredibly reassuring for a child to know. Daddy, if i probably should write a whole pages and pages about how incredibly blessed i am to have a father who cares. And how many times have i taken you for granted? Daddy, thank you for loving me. Thank you for setting the bar so high. You make me what to be a better person because you so want to be a better person. Thank you for loving your family with every ounce of your being. I love you more than i can say.

My Mom. Mom is more likely to read this, but it's still unlikely.
Mom, i don't know the girl i would be without you. You had the determination to take everything away from me to straighten me out. Thank you for that. Really. You know me better than i know myself. You are my best friend. and as i sit here crying as i type this, i can't find the words to tell you how much you mean to me. Your Sunday afternoon phone calls that get goofier and goofier as the weeks go on mean the world to me. i love being able to call and get boy advice or just spill about my day because i know on the other end you hang on to every word. Thank you for being the best example of a Godly wife and mother as you know how. Thank you for bringing music into our house. The memory of you practicing your violin always brings a smile to my face. i love how you always put your girls first, but seriously, go and have a spa day just for you. you deserve it. i love how you "get" my randomness. like this paragraph, for example... you truly delight in anything your girls do. i love you a million billion zillion.

My Sisters. the most likely to read my blog... ;)
Oh gosh, where to start? Well, you two... i've known you your whole lives...
Casi. you can make me laugh even when i don't want to. you constantly surprise me by you maturity in God. i can't wait to make more inside jokes with you...and you won't believe how jealous i get when i see you and christi making inside jokes without me! i always thought is was cheesy when people say "you are beautiful inside and out" but i can't think of a better thing to describe you. when you say you love seeing Jesus shine out of people's eyes all i can think is that you need to look in a mirror. i love you dearly, shmootzie-poo.
Christi. first of all, i want to apologize for being a crappy big sister to you growing up. i think the hardest part for us was our age difference. But i cannot tell you how many times i have thanked God in the last year because we are becoming friends again. i've missed you sweetie pie. i love your jokes, you are so witty. And my goodness i can't believe you are in high school! i love watching you and casi laugh and giggle and just be yourselves. i love love love you and can't wait to see you again.

my friends. Lord love them, they are saints for sticking with me.
Aims. i don't know how you've lasted this long as my roomie. i can't believe you are graduating and i won't see you every day for the rest of my life! God has huge plans for you. i love you dearly and i never, ever forget splitting a medium papa johns pizza with you and watching chic flicks until 4 in the morning. your laugh brightens my day and your heart after God inspires me. because i knew you, i have been changed for the better.
Linny. Oh man, oh man, oh man... you are probably the one person outside my immediate family that totally gets my random side. you always have something to say that speaks directly into my life (even thought you have no idea at the moment) i can't tell you have blessed i have been to be able to come spill my boy trouble to you. your godly wisdom helped me out of at least one sticky situation. i love you more than i can say...and if i ever make enough money to pay you what you are worth i am so commissioning you to paint/sculpt/create something amazing just for me.
Kim. i am so glad we were suite/room mates this year. i never would have gotten to know this amazing, brilliant, crazy woman of God. you make me laugh all the time (not just because of the little clumsy moments). you are the most genuinely sweet and caring person i know. i am so blessed to have you as a buffer (you know what i mean). this year has been one of the best years of my life and i am so glad i got to share it with you. i am going to miss you somethin' awful when you graduate. you do realize that you are the one i'm going to call at 3 o'clock in the morning when one of my kids has a fever and is throwing up... haha. and you can so crash at my house one day when you bring your crazy kids down to florida to go to disney. i love you tons.

and i would love to write more...but my eyes are now puffy and i must go.
i'm sure i failed in writing all of my feelings in the way i really wanted to...
i love you all.
peace out and pizza pies.
